Coming soon is my story about how the United Arab Emirates has gone from the camel to the Cadillac in 38 short years. Many foreign journalists have attempted to portray my country as a poor desert land that got lucky when it struck oil in the 1960s. Many Westerners think Dubai is our capital and that we follow Saudi Arabia’s strict morality policies.
My book is an attempt to give the real story of the UAE from the perspective of someone who is proud to wear the kandoora. I have seen the almost unbelievable transformation of my country, but I can also see how much of our Bedouin tradition we have retained and how liberalizing our laws has actually strengthened our belief in Islam. I want to share these insights with the world.
